Funeral Service Foundation

This is a multifaceted organization, with a broad reach both in and outside of funeral service. Dedicated to promoting the best of what funeral service is about, through grant-giving, research projects, and public awareness campaigns, the Foundation's Board, its donors, and staff work together to elevate the profession and make better the lives of people for whom funeral service has had an impact.

Green Burial Council

The Green Burial Council is an independent, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization working to encourage environmentally sustainable deathcare and the use of burial as a new means of protecting natural areas.

The GBC has been stewarded by individuals representing the environmental/conservation community, consumer organizations, academia, the deathcare industry, and such organizations and institutions as The Nature Conservancy, The Trust for Public Land, AARP, and the University of Colorado.

American Board of Funeral Service Education

The American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) serves as the national academic accreditation agency for college and university programs in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science Education. ABFSE is the sole accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation in this field.

  • The National Scholarship Program of the American Board of Funeral Service Education provides financial awards to students enrolled in funeral service or mortuary science programs to assist them in obtaining their professional education.
