What are Periodicals?

pe·ri·od·i·cal (ˌpirēˈädək(ə)l/) noun
plural noun: periodicals
  1. a magazine or newspaper published at regular intervals.
    synonyms: journal, publication, magazine, newspaper, paper, review, digest, gazette,newsletter, quarterly, annual, weekly.
If you don't know the citation of a specific article, but you want to find articles on a particular subject, by a specific author or author, or with a known article title, you need to use a periodicals database. But how do you know which database to use?
